Analysts say immigration ruling reeks of venue shopping

Some say the ruling in February by a federal judge stopping an executive action instituted by President Barack Obama reveals a rampant practice in federal district courts – venue shopping.

Obama’s executive action would in effect defer the deportation of around 500,000 illegal immigrants in the United States in good standing. According to immigration advocates, Texas lawyers ultimately chose a court in the state wherein they can find judges sympathetic to their position when they filed their case in Brownsville. The lawyers, on the other hand, replied by saying attorneys usually do this as a strategy tactic, and statistical evidence has showed that this is commonly used in civil rights and personal injury cases.

Rising political tensions has even made legal immigration efforts more difficult in some cases. If you have experienced or expect roadblocks concerning your green card, your visa, or are have other immigration concerns, we at the Law Office of William Jang, PLLC in Austin can extend legal expertise and advice to you. USCIS preparing to order millions of work permits and green cards

According to recent reports, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is preparing to possibly order the creation of 34 million blank work permits and green cards, Fox News reported on October 21.

Some worry that this move suggests the Obama administration is getting ready to make all illegal immigrants legal in one sweep. The spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform Bob Dane voiced his concerns. Dane mentioned that no amount of federal employees would be able to handle background checks for that many immigrants, implying that dangerous people could immediately become legal residents of America.

Despite the preparations by the USCIS, nothing official has been announced by the administration.
